How it works
纵然 is the most literary of the "even if" words, common in essays and older prose. Like 即使 and 即便 it takes 也 in the second clause; its register is the only real difference.
Examples
纵然千难万险，也要坚持下去。
Zòngrán qiānnán-wànxiǎn, yě yào jiānchí xiàqù.
Whatever the hardships, we must carry on.
纵然相隔千里，心也在一起。
Zòngrán xiānggé qiān lǐ, xīn yě zài yìqǐ.
Though a thousand miles apart, our hearts are together.
