How it works
以致 introduces the result a cause led to, and that result is nearly always unwelcome: "…, with the result that…". Use 以至于 for a neutral or extreme degree; 以致 carries the blame.
Examples
由于准备不足，以致计划失败。
Yóuyú zhǔnbèi bùzú, yǐzhì jìhuà shībài.
Because of inadequate preparation, the plan failed.
他没有及时就医，以致病情加重。
Tā méiyǒu jíshí jiùyī, yǐzhì bìngqíng jiāzhòng.
He didn't see a doctor in time, so his condition worsened.
