HSK 7–9 grammar · conjunction

倘若/若⋯⋯,⋯⋯

倘若/若⋯⋯,⋯⋯ — if (formal)

Pattern

+
( ) can be left out · other words may come before, between and after

How it works

倘若 and the shorter 若 are the written equivalents of 如果, opening a supposition. They suit formal notices and literary prose; in speech use 如果 or 要是.
