How it works
越…越 links two changing qualities: as the first increases, the second increases too — "the more X, the more Y." Unlike 越来越 (change over time), 越…越 ties one condition directly to another.
Examples
雨越下越大。
Yǔ yuè xià yuè dà.
The more it rains, the heavier it gets.
我越想越紧张。
Wǒ yuè xiǎng yuè jǐnzhāng.
The more I think about it, the more nervous I get.
