How it works
依据 introduces the standard, evidence, or authority a judgment or action rests on: "on the basis of / according to." It is more formal than 根据 and appears in written or official contexts.
Examples
依据现有的资料，我们无法得出结论。
Yījù xiànyǒu de zīliào, wǒmen wúfǎ déchū jiélùn.
On the basis of the available data, we can't reach a conclusion.
法官依据法律作出了判决。
Fǎguān yījù fǎlǜ zuòchū le pànjué.
The judge made the ruling according to the law.
