How it works
向来 describes a settled habit or disposition that has held from the past until now: "has always been…". Compare 历来, which suits institutions and history; 向来 comfortably describes a person.
Examples
他向来不喜欢热闹。
Tā xiànglái bù xǐhuan rènao.
He has never liked noisy crowds.
我向来准时。
Wǒ xiànglái zhǔnshí.
I'm always punctual.
