动词+就+动词,别⋯⋯

V就V,别⋯⋯ — fine, do it — just don't …

Pattern

+ + + + +
( ) can be left out · other words may come before, between and after

How it works

Repeating the verb across 就 concedes the action — go ahead — and the 别 clause attaches the speaker's one condition. It is impatient, informal, and typically ends a small argument.

Examples

走就走,别磨蹭了。
Zǒu jiù zǒu, bié móceng le.
Fine, let's go — just stop dawdling.
说就说,别吞吞吐吐的。
Shuō jiù shuō, bié tūntūn-tǔtǔ de.
Say it if you're going to — don't hem and haw.
