How it works
怎么…都/也 followed by a negative stresses that no method works: "no matter what/how, just … not." It says every attempt fails, emphasizing total impossibility.
Examples
这个字我怎么也想不起来了。
Zhège zì wǒ zěnme yě xiǎng bu qǐlái le.
No matter how I try, I just can't recall this character.
门锁住了，我怎么都打不开。
Mén suǒzhù le, wǒ zěnme dōu dǎ bu kāi.
The door is locked; I can't get it open no matter what.
