How it works
以来 after a past time or event marks the span from then up to now — "since …". It is often opened with 自 or 自从, and the main clause tells what has been true throughout that period.
Examples
入春以来，天气暖和多了。
Rùchūn yǐlái, tiānqì nuǎnhuo duō le.
Since spring began, the weather has grown much warmer.
自从上大学以来，他成熟了很多。
Zìcóng shàng dàxué yǐlái, tā chéngshú le hěn duō.
Since starting university, he's matured a lot.
开学以来，我一直很忙。
Kāixué yǐlái, wǒ yìzhí hěn máng.
Ever since term started, I've been busy.
