How it works
Introduces the goal or purpose of an action, usually at the front of the sentence. Distinguish it from 因为, which gives a reason or cause; 为了 answers 'for what aim', not 'because of what'.
Examples
为了学好中文，他每天听录音。
Wèile xué hǎo Zhōngwén, tā měitiān tīng lùyīn.
To learn Chinese well, he listens to recordings every day.
为了健康，她开始跑步。
Wèile jiànkāng, tā kāishǐ pǎobù.
For the sake of her health, she started running.
