How it works
往 before a place or direction word tells which way an action goes — "toward", "to". Put 往 and the direction in front of the verb of motion.
Examples
往前走。
Wǎng qián zǒu.
Go straight ahead.
往右拐。
Wǎng yòu guǎi.
Turn right.
这个车往北京开。
Zhège chē wǎng Běijīng kāi.
This train goes toward Beijing.
