How it works
虽 is the terse, written form of 虽然 — "although", "though". It opens a concession and is answered by 但/可/却/也 in the main clause.
Examples
他虽年轻，但经验很丰富。
Tā suī niánqīng, dàn jīngyàn hěn fēngfù.
Although he is young, he is very experienced.
这件衣服虽旧，却很合身。
Zhè jiàn yīfu suī jiù, què hěn héshēn.
Though this garment is old, it fits well.
路虽远，我们也一定要去。
Lù suī yuǎn, wǒmen yě yídìng yào qù.
Far as the road is, we are determined to go.
