哪怕 — even if / even though

How it works
Introduces an extreme or hypothetical concession, usually paired with 也 or 都 in the main clause: 'even if X (however unlikely), still Y.' Unlike 尽管, which states a real fact, 哪怕 typically supposes an extreme case.
Examples
哪怕只有一点点希望，我也要试试。
Nǎpà zhǐyǒu yìdiǎndiǎn xīwàng, wǒ yě yào shìshi.
Even if there's only the tiniest hope, I still want to try.
哪怕再忙，他每天也会给家里打电话。
Nǎpà zài máng, tā měitiān yě huì gěi jiā li dǎ diànhuà.
No matter how busy, he still phones home every day.
