连A带B

连A带B — both A and B together

Pattern

+ + +
( ) can be left out · other words may come before, between and after

How it works

连A带B bundles two actions or two amounts into one event: 连吃带喝 "eating and drinking the whole time", 连本带利 "principal plus interest". It says the two came as an inseparable package.

Examples

他连吃带拿,一点儿不客气。
Tā lián chī dài ná, yìdiǎnr bú kèqi.
He ate his fill and took some home — no shyness at all.
连本带利一共两万。
Lián běn dài lì yígòng liǎng wàn.
Principal and interest together come to twenty thousand.
