How it works
看在…的面子上 grants something not on its merits but out of regard for a third party or a relationship: "for so-and-so's sake". It usually precedes a concession the speaker would not otherwise make.
Examples
看在老朋友的面子上，我就答应了。
Kàn zài lǎo péngyou de miànzi shàng, wǒ jiù dāying le.
For an old friend's sake, I agreed.
看在孩子的面子上，别吵了。
Kàn zài háizi de miànzi shàng, bié chǎo le.
For the children's sake, stop arguing.
