HSK 1 grammar · adverb
很
很 + adjective
Pattern
+ +
( ) can be left out · other words may come before, between and after
How it works
An adjective used as the predicate normally needs an adverb like 很 in front of it; here 很 is a light link and does not always mean "very". Dropping it can imply a comparison.
Examples
她很漂亮。
Tā hěn piàoliang.
She is pretty.
今天很热。
Jīntiān hěn rè.
It's hot today.
