还是…吧 — "let's rather …" (gentle suggestion)

How it works
还是 … 吧 offers what the speaker feels is the better choice after weighing options — "let's just …", "you'd better …". 还是 leads the preferred option and 吧 softens it into a suggestion.
Examples
太晚了，我们还是回家吧。
Tài wǎn le, wǒmen háishi huí jiā ba.
It's late; let's just go home.
你还是问问老师吧。
Nǐ háishi wènwen lǎoshī ba.
You'd better ask the teacher.
还是坐地铁吧，快一点儿。
Háishi zuò dìtiě ba, kuài yìdiǎnr.
Let's take the subway instead, it's faster.
