How it works
连…也/都 highlights an extreme or surprising case: "even X." 连 introduces the thing being emphasized and 也 or 都 must follow it before the predicate; it often implies the rest is even more so.
Examples
他连一个汉字都不会写。
Tā lián yí ge Hànzì dōu bú huì xiě.
He can't even write a single character.
这么简单的问题连孩子也懂。
Zhème jiǎndān de wèntí lián háizi yě dǒng.
Even a child understands such a simple question.
