How it works
离 states the distance between two places or times: "A 离 B" plus 远 (far) or 近 (near). It measures the gap, not movement.
Examples
我家离学校很近。
Wǒ jiā lí xuéxiào hěn jìn.
My home is close to the school.
银行离这儿远吗？
Yínháng lí zhèr yuǎn ma?
Is the bank far from here?
