How it works
不怎么 before a verb or adjective softly downplays it — "not particularly", "not very". It is gentler than a flat 不.
Examples
我不怎么喜欢吃辣。
Wǒ bù zěnme xǐhuan chī là.
I don't particularly like spicy food.
今天不怎么冷。
Jīntiān bù zěnme lěng.
It's not very cold today.
他最近不怎么来上班。
Tā zuìjìn bù zěnme lái shàngbān.
He hasn't been coming to work much lately.
